LEARNING TO WORK AND COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR SPIRIT GUIDE(S)
December 30, 2010 by ravenstarshealingroom
Each of us has the ability to contact Spirit Guides through our imagination, senses, visions, dreams and our emotions. It is through our imagination (mind’s eye, sixth sense) we can find solutions to problems, break down barriers of space and time, gain insight into ourselves and others and communicate with our Higher Self and Higher beings. Our imagination inspires us to search for Truths beyond our physical world and discover higher communities of beings, channeling information from them for our Self and others.
Spirit Guides will always love, encourage and support you on your journey. Spirit Guides accept you for who you are….not who you are trying to be. The more you allow your guide to share hearts with you, the more you will glow from the inside out…. the more your energy will brighten and expand and move as you desire it to. A circle that returns to its beginnings has itself moved and so builds a spiral. Circle after circle we process our lessons and move up to the next experience.
It was by accident I met my Spirit Guide while journeying to discover my Power Animal. Into the cave and through a tunnel I traveled to a lush forest filled with Redwoods and an old ancient Sequoia tree. Under the Sequoia tree sat an elderly North American Indian whose name came to be known as Hawk Eyes. The wisdom in his eyes took my breath away…..I couldn’t help thinking how exciting it would be to know him…study with him….my mind zipped around at all the possibilities he might teach, his history, culture, traditions and arts. “Yes”, he said, eyes twinkling “it is you I will teach” and he explained why. On that fateful day, I learnt my power animal was the introspective Bear. For well over 12 years, Hawk Eyes has helped me in my spiritual growth. He knows what moves and uplifts me….he knows exactly what stimulates me. The more I’ve acknowledged his presence the more we have helped each other.
Through the years I went through a mixture of emotions, attitudes and actions and even difficult periods of trials and errors and confusing phases of my life. All the while Hawk Eyes watched me with loving detachment. I gathered an assortment of books and other resources to help me understand the wealth of knowledge Hawk Eyes was teaching me. I learnt to meditate and create my own sacred space, which I discovered is a reflection of the true inner Self. Integrating all this information was not a graceful process. Hawk Eyes told me we must embrace chaos before embracing order. I thought, “what a ridiculous system” and set about obsessively to beat the system. I can honestly say it didn’t work. There was no way of convincing Hawk Eyes I had worked through all my fears. He just watched and waited as I played hide and seek with my emotions, until finally I cried or let out all the fears, memories and feelings I was experiencing. Each time I felt the greatest peace I had ever felt and Hawk Eyes was there to congratulate me.
Because of free will, Spirit guides will not interfere with any decisions you decide to take…they would never suggest anything that is wrong, harmful or against your will….they will however gently guide you to different options, possibilities and alternatives. It is up to you what path you will take.
“For someone who has never worked with guides, meeting them may come as a gradual awareness or it may come in an intentional focused meditation. For any psychic healer, it is almost inevitable you will start working with guides at some fairly early point. [My healing guides showed themselves to me when attuned to Reiki II.] When in a healing you hear a voice directing you to send green or ask [the client] about her sister, it is definitely a spirit guide. I once thought the voice I heard was my guilty conscience, and discovered it to be [my guide] Theresa. Spirit guides make healing a joy and wonder. Their presence causes miracles to happen, both in healing sessions and in daily life. Personal spirit guides and angels add a dimension to living that is a joy to experience.
To begin working with these nonphysical teachers, first be aware of them. When you hear that quiet voice, pay attention to it. When there are extra hands in the healing, thank them. At the start of a healing or self-healing session, invite them in. State your request for “all positive healers, angels and guides who wish to help” to come. Once they know you are aware of them and trying to make clearer contact, they begin helping you to do so. “ DIANE STEIN, Psychic Healing with Spirit Guides and Angels
Spirit guides, I believe are chosen to help and instruct us. They come from various nationalities, cultures, time periods and abilities. They may even be from your own ancestors that have recently passed on or from the distant past. Some may have been around for centuries, growing learning and passing on knowledge to us….knowledge, from ancient civilizations and times that have become lost to us. There are spirit guides that work with the Akashic records, a repository of information about every life of every person ever born in a physical body. Imagine being able to look at your past lives, see how they’re affecting you now and learning how to transform and heal them. Not only that, they can give you a perspective on relationship patterns, behavior traits, buried talents and more. They can teach and expand your knowledge in music, art, poetry—any subject you can imagine.
When auras (in the physical or astral) come in contact with each other, they immediately create and project hair thin threads of auric energy. These threads connect the two auras, feeding emotions and data from one to the other. All communication between the two is accomplished through the subconscious mind and telepathy. Through telepathy a special bond is established between the spirit guide and you. As the relationship between you and your spirit guide(s) deepen, the transference of thoughts, images, feelings will increase. Spontaneous psychic images can appear so fast, you’ll wonder if it was all in your imagination. The Key to sending and receiving telepathic messages is through calming the mind and the emotions.
The spiritual plane is very sensitive to thoughts and emotions such as fear, anger, hate, love, desire and intense spirituality. These emotional thoughts send out waves of vibrations that can aid or prevent you from connecting to your spirit guides. You need to take a good look at yourself and your own habits. If there is cleaning up to do, do it before making contact with your Spirit Guide. You don’t have to be perfect but you do need to be honest about yourself. Whenever you enter the spiritual plane you always take with you all the thoughts and emotions that are clinging to your life. Sometimes there are emotions buried deep within our subconscious. It is up to you to drag them out into the light, acknowledge their existence and begin dealing with them in a positive way. By working on your own life and the depth of your own being you’ll connect with your own Higher Self and activate a reservoir of spiritual knowledge you didn’t even know you possessed. And it is through your Higher Self a strong connection to your Spirit Guide will happen.
In the previous article we talked of creating your Sacred Space. This inner sanctum is a reflection of your spiritual side and is uniquely created by you. It is a place you enjoy and love to be in, and where you feel safe and comfortable….it is your place to meditate and it also protects you. Some people create a well or sacred pool in their sanctuary to let go and cleanse their spiritual body. Some enter a sacred pool and stand under a cleansing waterfall to clear their energy field. Another way to energize your space is to add and use herbs, stones and oils to enhance and heighten your spiritual journeying. No matter what you do or use, the more vibrant and colorful your energy body is, the more attractive and magnetic you will be to the spirit world.
SIGNS OF SPIRIT COMMUNICATION
When I began meditating to learn more about my spirit guide(s), I felt a cold breeze flowing near the top of my forehead or third eye. When I taught meditation years later, many student in the class felt a tingling sensation in their neck or hands…some felt goosebumps or a tingling up their spine, others heard whispers/soft buzzing or ringing in their ears. And then there were those who saw vivid colors or smelt flowers or perfumes.
“Many spirit guides will reveal themselves through symbols, images and even specific colors. They do not always initially show themselves as they truly are. The symbol will often play upon your own energy field, raising its level so you can more easily attune to this guide.” TED ANDREWS, HOW TO Meet and Work with Spirit Guides
When you begin meditating I recommend not eating a full course meal before. The body, especially the stomach area needs to be in relaxed state….you don’t want your body attracting your attention. Light nibbling of nutritious food is best. No junk food and no sugar and definitely no alcohol.
“What happens if I’m in my sacred space and after requesting contact with my guide nothing happens.” You persevere, try again another time and continue to reach outward with your awareness. Watch with your whole being for the spirit guide to come. It will. Trust and be patient. A spirit will approach and come very close to you, watching you. Keep in your center and open your whole self, like an empty vase or vessel. Reach out with your spirit and touch this being. It will move into your awareness, your whole being. As you feel it and it feels you, your energies will mix. Your hearts will touch and merge together. You will know the mind and heart of your spirit guide and he/she will know you. There is no real way to explain the quality and degree of your exchange….it has to be experienced.
“Many times there is great spirit contact, but we don’t recognize it for what it is. Spirit can come to us through any of our sensory organs. We may physically see them as actual beings, colors, images, animals, creatures or even symbols. They may appear as a shadow passing by or as a subtle indistinct form. They can be seen physically or intuitively. [They may come to you in your dreams.] This will vary according to the development level of your psychic ability.” TED ANDREWS
When my visual abilities started to develop (clairvoyance), images would instantaneously appear before my eyes and disappear just as fast. Sometimes I saw lights moving around the bedroom before going to sleep or different faces passing very quickly through my mind. It isn’t uncommon to suddenly be interested in intricate patterns on curtains or on the carpet and watch these patterns appear to transform into the faces of unfamiliar people or even animals. All these and more are quite common when you begin to develop your psychic energy and gift of clairvoyance.
MEDITATING TO MEET YOUR SPIRIT GUIDE
By Ted Andrews, HOW TO Meet and Work with Spirit Guides
I cannot recommend Ted Andrews book enough! It explains ‘everything’ you need to know in meeting and working with spirit guides and so much more.
With this meditation I recommend reading it over first and then recording it with your own voice. If you’d like to play music in the background, please do, music is inspirational and leads us to a more relaxed and emotional state.
[Take a few deep cleansing breaths and feel all the tension in your body flow away] “As you relax, draw all your energies around you as if someone has placed an old, comfortable quilt about your shoulders. You are relaxed and at peace. There is a sense of anticipation, for you are about to be introduced to one of your spirit guides.
Within the darkness of the mind a scene begins to form. Faintly you hear the sound of water, a soft gentle stream that must be close by. There is the sound of birds, and you begin to feel the warmth of the sun upon you. You smell the gentle scent of spring flowers and new-mown hay. A soft breeze caresses your face.
You look about you and see that you are in a small, circular garden. The color of the flowers stands out strong against the greens of the grasses and trees. Surrounding the garden are stately oaks, their branches extended as if protecting you.
You breathe deeply of the sweet air. You are relaxed and at peace. You know this place. You have seen it before. Maybe in your dreams or maybe in a distant lifetime—it doesn’t matter. You just know that it is your haven. It is a place where you can go to heal and refresh yourself. It is a place of life and peace.
You see that you are sitting upon a stone. It seems to have been carved out as if to be a chair for you within this garden. It makes you feel soid and connected to the earth.
As you look about, renewing your memories of this sanctuary, you see a path that leads down from a distant mountain to this garden. The path is lined with stones of every color and kind. At the opposite side of the garden, you see this path continue. It leads out from the garden down to a distant valley. As you look down this path, you see your present home within that distant valley.
You understand that you are at a plateau, an intersection of time and place. It is an inner sanctuary where the real and the unreal meet. It is the place of the finite and the infinite, the physical and the spiritual. Knowing this is freeing. It relieves you of stress and worry. In this place there is only “to be.”
As you sit upon your stone chair, you see up the path toward the mountain a small golden light. It seems to draw closer and closer to you. It floats gently up the path toward your little sanctuary. Its light is soft and gentle, yet it shines with a brilliance you have never seen. As it reaches the outer edge of your sanctuary, it stops, a large pulsating crystalline light. You watch, waiting but it doesn’t move. It just stays outside your garden. This puzzles you at first. Then you remember. This is your garden. Nothing can enter without your permission. You find this thought to be very comforting.
You slowly stand and take a step forward. You nod your head, acknowledging the light and giving it permission to enter. The light draws forward and hovers just before you.
The light shimmers. Soft strands of gold stream forth from it. The light seems to unfold itself, like a flower blossoming. As each petal of this light unfolds, you see that something or someone is inside. Then you see before you a wondrous being. See it. Imagine it. Know that it is real.
As you look upon this being, pay attention to what you experience. Are there specific colors? Fragrances? Do you feel a touch or a tingling on any part of your body? Is the being male or female? Even if the unfolding only reveals a symbol, that symbol can reflect a male or female energy. Trust your impressions.
Begin to carry on a conversation in your mind with this being. Ask it its name. What is its purpose? Why is it around you? How can you come to recognize it more consciously in the future?
Don’t force the answers. Let them come naturally. Let this being communicate about itself to you, tell you why it is working with you and what it will help you accomplish in the future. As your guide how best to call upon it in the future.
Don’t worry that you might be imagining it all and that it may all be a product of the mind and not a reality. You would not be able to imagine it at all if there wasn’t something real about it.
Now bring the conversation to a close. Ask your guide for something that you can use to verify its reality. Is there something coming up in your life that you need to be aware of? Is there something important that you need to know? Ask it for a touch, a tingle or some kind of physical sensation at a specific time over the next couple of days. Make it a reasonable request, one that is easily fulfilled and confirmed.
Now thank your guide for the opportunity to meet and work with it. As the golden light folds up around your guide, send it off with your best thoughts and love.
As it withdraws from your garden, moving back down the path, you sit back down upon your rock. You understand that in this inner sanctuary you can invite all of your guides into your awareness. This is exciting and you are excited about the opportunity of expanding your horizons.
You breathe deeply, relaxing and reliving the conversation in your mind. As you do, the garden begins to fade. You find yourself sitting in your home, comfortable and peaceful, remembering all that you have experienced. Slowly and gently open your eyes, aware perhaps for the first time that there is life and energy on all dimensions around you.
At this point it is good to record your experience with your guide. Write down all that you saw, felt or learned. This will help you in grounding your energies into the physical and it will help you in remembering your individual guides.
Also record any new impressions you may have about this spirit guide. Sometimes insight into our spirit guide’s energy comes to us when we are in the recording process. We understand more fully some of the information passed on to us during the encounter.
Fully center and ground yourself back into the physical…..this can be accomplished by eating something or some kind of physical activity.”
