All over the planet certain sites are held sacred as thresholds to the spirit world. Skillfully crafted, their magnetic fields of energy contain an unspeakable strength that stirs and awakens our DNA and the very design of our biology. Our Soul and Spirit becomes engulfed in a deep subtle presence of Pure BEING, pulsating, radiating and penetrating deep within our inner core.
One of the key wisdoms held by many different cultures is the Circle of Life. There are so many different symbols associated with it, including the circle, the medicine wheel, the pentacle, the Celtic cross, the sun wheel, the spiral sun, the labyrinth and many more. Meditating on these symbols seems to bring them to life, creating a vortex of swirling energy which transports us to its very center…we can literally feel our very essence being sucked in through its swirling mass to its center of inner stillness….a place where the body is joined with soul and spirit.…a place where our impressions, intuitions, sensations, sounds, scents become amplified and alive.
“Have you ever felt “something”…an energy shift, perhaps…when you’ve been “somewhere”, whether a familiar spot or not? You may even “see” still pics or movie-like clips in your third eye when you encounter such a place. Or maybe you “hear” talking or music going on when you’re in the midst of this “somewhere.” Or perhaps you simply “know” that, as Bob Dylan has written in his “Ballad of a Thin Man”: …something is happening here and you don’t know what it is, do you Mr. Jones?
Energy is everywhere; infused throughout the universe. We’re all alive with energy, as are our surroundings. Let us not forget all plants, animals, rocks, etc. have their own energetic vibrations. Energy is carried on the wind, in the rain and snow, and shines down upon us via the sun and moon. As humans, we have left, and continue to leave, our mark on and around our surroundings, either purposefully or not. As humans, our energy has joined with that of the universe in very particular ways. In the best possible way, Sacred Space is formed when our thoughts and intentions are Loving, Light-filled, and in tune with Spirit.
What we feel, hear, see, and know when we’re “somewhere” links us with what “is” and what has gone on before. Perhaps there were times when we were “somewhere” and we immediately felt uneasy or even panicked. But then lets think of the other times that we’re “somewhere” and we can literally feel the holiness and reverence oozing from the ground we’re standing on and in the air we’re breathing. Either way, what went on in each place…via thoughts, intentions, actions, etc….the energies were released and incorporated into the actual “somewhere.
“Ever since I was a child I’ve loved to go into cathedrals and other places of worship to Spirit. Such places, regardless of the religion affiliated with the “house of God,” and regardless of the actual grandeur (or not) of these structures, always comforted me; always made me go within and simply be present with One. In the cases of actual structures, the intentions of folks were to build a place where people could go to in order to feel, see, hear, and know God. Even if such a structure were torn down, the positive energy infused into the place would remain. It is Sacred Space.
But it’s important know that a house-like structure is not needed for Sacred Space. If you’ve ever stood on a Native American burial ground, this will be crystal clear. Same with places such as Stonehenge in England or Calendar II in Vermont, and many more. Also let’s include labyrinths, medicine circles; a personal altar or designated room within your own home as Sacred Space…all created with Loving and Light-filled intentions. It’s important to know that you don’t have to only go by what others before us have intended to be sacred. We, too, can make Sacred Space here and now. “ JENNY BAKRIGES http://thespiritualspider.blogspot.com/

PHYSCIALLY CREATING SACRED SPACE
In the beginning, you might want to find a quiet place to call your own and create a routine with your meditation. Meditating in the same place and at the same time everyday helps to train the mind and body to relax. Not only that, every space has its own energy and that energy is created by the people and objects within it. By always being in one space, you will raise the energy there with your own vibrations and psychic work.
Once you have found a small area you can call your own, you can decorate and furnish it to your liking. Soft background music may help to soothe and clear the mind…slow the breathing, relax the body and awaken your heart and thymus center. Spiritually uplifting sounds such as chimes, flutes and harps create a very light floating sensation. Many CD’s are created with natural sounds such as flowing water, ocean waves, birds singing or dolphin sounds that will help ground and connect you to your base chakra.
Although an altar is not essential, some people like to create one with talismans, pictures and candles. Whatever you choose, keep it simple.
VISUALIZING YOUR INNER SACRED PLACE
Your inner sanctum is a place of focus and renewal where you will discover ways of traveling deep within yourself and uncover parts of yourself you never knew existed. It is a place where you can listen to your inner voice, spirit guides, use your imagination to solve problems, heal yourself and others and reach a clearer understanding of your dreams.
“Your sanctuary is your ideal place of relaxation, tranquility, and safety and you can create it exactly as you want it.” Shakti Gawain
Let your body relax and sink into the floor/chair you are lying/sitting on…..letting your eyes close in order to not be distracted by anything going on outside you…..letting the sound of your own voice guide you gently into the center of your being…..attuning yourself to the world within ……becoming aware of the natural rhythm of your body….breathing in….and breathing out….moving ever deeper to the center of your inner being…
As you move more and more deeply into your inner self….allow your mind to drift like a feather….gently gliding down to a pleasant, peaceful place. A place that you know…and where you always feel able to relax and just BE…completely. A safe secure place where no one and nothing can ever bother you.
It may be a place you have visited on holidays, a beach or a place in the countryside….a place from your past…..or somewhere you’ve always wanted to go. Or it may be a room…..a room you have had….a room you do have….or a room you would like to have….or an imaginary place….it doesn’t matter……just so it’s a place that feels good and safe and peaceful to you…….a place where you can always feel able to let go completely…..a haven of tranquility, unique and special to you.
And allow this place to become real to you…..looking around you……taking the place in with your eyes….enjoying the colors that surround you….the different shapes and textures…and familiar objects that make this space special.
Just taking the richness of this place all in… becoming more and more attuned to your safe and beautiful special space…… whether sitting, lying or reclining, enjoy the sounds….the smells….the atmosphere….with nobody wanting anything, nobody needing anything and no one expecting or demanding anything from you…..a place you can truly relax.
This mini exercise is one way of connecting you to the energy and vibration of your own sacred place. As you become more attuned and opened to its sacredness, so too will your love and appreciation for its beauty and uniqueness grow. Your heart will open more and more and your emotions will burst forward. You’ll feel the vibration of Love wrapped gently yet firmly around you.
The essence of your sacred place encompasses and reflects all that you are and all that you will be. Like a birth, it is a process brought about one step at a time in beauty and joy. YOU are that beauty and joy.
This deep quiet relaxing place is a wonderful place to begin psychic work and could be the birth of everything you create from this moment on. You will feel in tune with your Spirit and be more and more in the moment that is Now.
Each time you return to your special place, a feeling of elation and power will flood your being….your appreciation for its beauty and uniqueness will grow and your love for this place with expand outward and reflect back to you. And, the more your own light/essence opens and expands, the more it infuses with Universal Life Energy/All That Is/God.
